The Finishing Line by Owen Slot
Sometimes you just need to read an old romantic comedy. It can be quite refreshing. Particularly if you have been reading heavy themed type books.
Will, Alex and Jake all live together in harmony for the past 5 years. All of them have one thing in common – they are all single and unable to commit to a relationship.
However when their best friend Pete gets married. Will finds himself a girlfriend. It looks like Will is going to beat the others to the finishing line or is he?
Alex and Jake find their partners in the most unconventional way – Alex is dating Will’s ex Steph and Jake’s partner is in the middle of a divorce. Where Will is her husband’s divorce lawyer!
I really like the way this book was written. It was a tone that took me a few pages to get used to but once I did I could not put the book down. My favourite character is Will – I just love his humour and sarcasm. He made me laugh.
The Finishing Line is divided into chapters, with Will as the main character. I liked the fact that the characters bounced off each other. It felt quite realistic.
A great book for Summer reading!
